A software download to save on paper when printing

October 14, 2008 – 10:52 pm

In my work at the moment we are having a drive to see how we can save resources and be more environmentally friendly - an obvious one is printing less.

We do a lot of research online and need to print out text from webpages and emails most days, and if you have ever done this you will know how much extra paper you can end up wasting from banner ads, footer text on webpages and unusual HTML formats that are not printer friendly.

Some websites are nice to their users and offer ‘printer friendly’ formats, but many are not. Another option is to highlight the text you want to print and copy to notepad then print it out, but again this can take time.

So I have been digging about on the internet and have found 3 free downloads that can make this job a lot easier.

1. Nuke Anything
is a firefox add on that allows you to highlught any text on a website that you want to print, right click and then select ‘remove everything else’ and hey presto all the other objects on the page have gone - meaning you are now ready to print a clean page.

Nuke anything

Nuke Anything is excellent for me as I use Firefox all the time, if you don’t use Firefox and use Internet Explorer you might find this HP download useful http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/cache/482779-0-0-225-121.html

If you have found this useful why not tell someone about it
